What Test Will I Need To Take?You will need to pass a vision, knowledge and road test to obtain an Iowa driver’s license. Required documentsYou must show proof of age, proof of residency and your social security number to obtain an Iowa driver’s license. You need to bring one primary and one secondary document to the MVD. All documents must be original. A complete list can be found in the $CSLINK or online. Instruction PermitInstructional permits are available at age 14 and must be held for a minimum of 6 months. All driving must be supervised by a licensed driver 21 years of age or older. Every passenger must have a seat belt. You must also take an approved driver’s education course and log at least 20 hours of supervised driving. Intermediate LicenseTo qualify for an intermediate license, you must be at least 16 years old and meet all the conditions of an instructional permit. With an intermediate license you can driver without supervision during certain hours. |
